Sugar cane is a tall perennial grass widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. It serves as one of the primary natural sources for producing sucrose, which is commonly refined into table sugar. The plant grows in long stalks that store juice rich in natural sugars. These stalks are harvested manually or mechanically depending on the region and farming system.

Once harvested, sugar cane is transported to processing facilities where it undergoes crushing to extract the juice. The extracted liquid is then clarified, filtered, and boiled to remove impurities and reduce moisture content. Through crystallization, sugar crystals are formed and separated from the remaining syrup. The leftover material, known as molasses, is often used in food production and fermentation processes. Beyond sugar production, sugar cane has multiple by-products. Bagasse, the fibrous residue after juice extraction, is commonly used as a biofuel and in paper manufacturing. It can also serve…

🧬🇺🇸 North America Long Read Sequencing: Unlocking the Future of Genomics!

đź’¬ Group Discussion Topic

Long Read Sequencing (LRS) is revolutionizing genomics across North America by enabling scientists to analyze DNA and RNA with greater accuracy and detail than ever before. From precision medicine to agricultural research, this technology is helping researchers solve complex genetic puzzles that were once difficult to decode.

👉 Discussion Starter:Do you think long read sequencing will become the new standard for genomic research and personalized healthcare in North America?

đź“– History & Origin

Long Read Sequencing is an advanced DNA sequencing technology capable of reading thousands to millions of genetic bases in a single continuous sequence. While early genome sequencing relied primarily on short-read technologies, advances in sequencing platforms over the past two decades have enabled much longer reads. North America has been at the forefront of adopting and advancing long read sequencing through research institutions, biotechnology companies, and clinical laboratories, accelerating discoveries in medicine, agriculture, and life…
